Adeyemo S. Oladotun
My name is Adeyemo S. Oladotun, I am a clinical psychologist and also a lecturer at the department of Psychology, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Nigeria.
I have a scientist-practitioner orientation in clinical psychology which suggests that I am a producer of knowledge in clinical psychology and equally a consumer of such knowledge for practical use.
I bagged a BSc certificate in psychology in 2008 which propelled me to seek further understanding on the role of mind in man’s daily functioning which resulted to an MSc in clinical psychology in 2012.
My internship experience at University College Hospital Ibadan coupled with my work experiences at Federal Neuropsychiatry Hospital Uselu Benin City raised some questions which informed my interest into an aspect of clinical psychology called clinical neuropsychology at PhD level where I am specifically investigating the influence of brain in behaviour especially among breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and how I can help enhance independent living with the use of neuropsychological intervention.
In 2017, I became a Commonwealth Fellow in Behavioral Family Therapy (BFT) tenured in Birmingham- the experience which gave me advantage of using BFT to treat varied psychopathigies and also train others.
I have enjoyed mentoring in clinical psychology practice from two great personalities- Drs. Olugbemi Olukolade and Aroyewun Afolabi; and this has sharpened my skills of clinical practice in the 21st century.
I have competence in handling psychological cases bordering on child and adolescents-this has manifested in my latest activity as a consultant for Rotary Club of Wellesley, USA in conjunction with Rotary club of Ibadan, Idi Ishin on Break Free From Depression Programme targeted to reduce depression and suicide among in-school adolescents in selected states in Nigeria.
Other areas of my competence in clinical psychology are neuropsychological assessments, general adult psychopathology, substance abuse, psychotherapy and so on.
I see myself as a trainer of trainers in clinical psychology practice all over the world, a problem solver and a mentor to budding clinical psychologists.
My hobbies are reading, researching, watching and playing football, traveling and checking on people.
I believe that every thing we do has a consequence, therefore we should be mindful of our actions or inactions.
